Garmin adds nutrition tracking for Garmin Connect+ subscribers

Garmin has introduced nutrition tracking to its Garmin Connect app for paid-up subscribers. The new feature, available through the Garmin Connect+ subscription plan, allows users to monitor food intake alongside existing health and fitness metrics.

The addition of nutrition tracking is intended to provide a more comprehensive view of overall wellbeing by integrating calorie and macronutrient data.

The service includes a food database for packaged and restaurant items, a barcode scanner, and AI-powered image recognition for logging meals via a smartphone camera. Users can also create custom meals to track regular recipes and view long-term reports on calorie and macronutrient targets.

Susan Lyman, Vice President of Consumer Sales and Marketing at Garmin said “Our Nutrition feature is designed for all users, no matter where they are in their health journey.

“Whether they’re just starting to build healthy habits, wanting to maintain a healthy lifestyle, or looking to perform at their absolute best, users can now track their nutrition, health and fitness data in one app – giving them a simplified approach to reach their goals.”

Subscribers can receive Active Intelligence insights that use AI to analyse how nutrition affects training and recovery. For example, the app may highlight how late-night eating impacts sleep quality.

On compatible Garmin smartwatches, users can view a nutrition summary or log recently eaten foods directly from the wrist. Certain voice-enabled devices also allow for food logging via voice commands.

The nutrition feature joins other Garmin Connect+ tools released during the 2025 season and into the start of 2026, such as 3D maps and the Garmin Connect Rundown. New users are being offered a 30-day free trial of the service.
