Sigma Sports releases new Cafe Ride episode with Sir Chris Hoy

UK-based cycling retailer Sigma Sports has released a new episode of its Cafe Ride series featuring six-time Olympic champion Sir Chris Hoy. In the latest instalment, Hoy joins presenter Matt Stephens for a mountain bike ride on the trails of Llandegla Forest in North Wales.

While Hoy is best known for his 20-year dominance in track cycling, his interest in the sport began off-road. The episode explores this connection to trail riding and his recent experiences cycling in Wales.

The interview touches on Hoy’s outlook following his prostate cancer diagnosis two years ago. The athlete has since raised over £3 million through the Tour de 4.

Matt Stephens, the host of the series, said “I didn’t think I needed reminding of how spiritually uplifting riding a bike in the fresh air can be, until I went for a spin with Sir Chris Hoy on mountain bikes in North Wales. We laughed, I fell off, we ate bacon rolls and we also had a hug.”

Launched in 2019, the Sigma Sports Cafe Ride series combines casual cycling with spontaneous conversations. The series has accumulated millions of views on YouTube and has previously featured athletes such as Tadej Pogacar, Tom Pidcock, Mark Cavendish, Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig, and Sir Bradley Wiggins.

Based in London, Sigma Sports is a premium retailer specialising in road cycling, triathlon, and running equipment.
