Supertri Toronto will provide additional opportunities for elite athletes as its Supertri Pro Series event hosts a stage of Triathlon Canada’s National Development Series on July 26, 2026.
Organised by Supertri, the event will see Canadian elite athletes racing within the Supertri Pro Series field. Participants will be eligible for both National Development Series and Supertri podiums and rewards. Furthermore, three athletes per gender will qualify for the Supertri Pro Series Final, which features a prize pool of more than US$800,000.
Based in London, UK, Supertri is an international triathlon series known for its high-intensity race formats. The Toronto event will also feature a stage of the Triathlon Ontario Cup to further support regional development.
Triathlon Canada’s National Development Series serves as a pathway for athletes to transition from provincial draft-legal racing to continental competition. Athletes accumulate points across the series, with a maximum of four scores counting toward a final ranking.
Rachel Macatee, Interim Chief Executive Officer at Triathlon Canada, said “Providing high quality development race opportunities is a critical step forward that Triathlon Canada is taking with our partners in an effort to increase the talent pool and streamline success for Canada’s next generation of elite triathletes.
“Experience on courses designed for elite athletes, exposure to deep fields of their peers from across Canada, and access to systems that will teach them how to succeed on the international racing scene are essential to the progression of high-performance athletes.”
Macatee added that as a Regional Championship, the race will be a critical event for generating ranking points and qualifying for the 2026 Elite National Championships in Victoria, BC, in August 2026.
Michael D’hulst, CEO and Co-Founder at Supertri, said “Supertri has always offered incredible opportunities for elite triathletes to compete, and for up and coming athletes to get chances they wouldn’t be offered elsewhere. We have seen the biggest names in the sport come up through our racing and redefine professional triathlon.”
The 2026 Supertri Pro Series schedule includes:
- Ascension Seton Supertri Austin, TX – May 25, 2026
- Supertri Blenheim Palace, UK – June 7, 2026
- Supertri Toronto, Canada – July 26, 2026
Amateur athletes will also have the opportunity to compete on the same course and over the same distances as the elites during the Toronto event. The date and location for the Supertri Pro Series Final are expected to be announced shortly.
