Stan’s releases plant-based Polar Drip Wax chain lube

Stan's Polar Drip Wax

Stan’s has introduced Polar Drip Wax, a plant-based drip wax chain lubricant. According to the accessories specialist, the new lube utilises a polar bonding formula to bond to metal at the molecular level.

Developed in-house alongside Whistler Performance Labs, the lubricant features a lower viscosity than traditional wax options while maintaining drivetrain cleanliness and longevity. Designed for riders seeking performance without the process of hot-wax immersion systems, the product applies as a liquid drip and cures into a dry wax film that penetrates the chain links.

Features of the lubricant include:

  • Polar wax technology designed to chemically and mechanically bond to steel rather than coating it
  • A reported longevity of over 200 miles (320km) between applications
  • Plant-based formula that is free from PFAS and PTFE
  • Bottled in recycled ocean plastic and manufactured in the USA

The lubricant uses an aqueous emulsion where wax molecules suspended in a water carrier flow into the chain rollers and pins at room temperature. Once applied, the water evaporates and the remaining wax cures into a thin, low-friction film. A second application can be added to increase longevity.

To complement the lubricant, Stan’s has also developed its Biobased Drivetrain Cleaner. The USDA-certified bio-based formula is designed to clean and prime the chain, leaving a residual polar film that enhances the adhesion of the wax without requiring solvent strips.
