Twiceme Technology, a digital safety specialist, has unveiled a partnership with Rudy Project at Sea Otter Classic in Monterey, CA. The new partnership sees the Italian multisport accessories brand integrate Twiceme digital safety technology into its Terraform and Terraform Pro mountain bike helmets.
Founded in 1985 in Treviso, Italy, Rudy Project is an international supplier of helmets, sunglasses, and prescription eyewear. The brand, which is now available in more than 60 countries, has integrated Twiceme near-field communication (NFC) technology directly into its equipment to provide bikers with instant access to safety features in case of emergencies.
Simone Barbazza, Chief Marketing and Sustainability Officer at Rudy Project, said “At Rudy Project, we believe performance starts at the top with the head, the centre of vision, balance, and protection. Our partnership with Twiceme extends our commitment to athlete safety by adding an intelligent layer of protection that travels with riders wherever the road or trail takes them.”
Rudy Project helmets featuring the technology will offer a suite of safety capabilities via the Twiceme smartphone app. This includes a Medical ID feature that allows users to upload health information – such as emergency contacts, allergies, and medical conditions – to the helmet. First responders can access this information by hovering a smartphone over the Twiceme symbol on the equipment.
Additional safety features included in the integration are:
- Share Location, which allows select users to see the real-time locations of riding partners or groups
- An Emergency Services function that enables users to manually trigger notifications using GPS to pinpoint their location
- A Get Back Timer, allowing users to set expected return times and alert designated contacts if a return is delayed
- An Immobility Alert designed to detect prolonged immobility. If a user does not respond to a mobile notification, an emergency alert is triggered
Christian Connolly, CEO of Twiceme, said “Mountain biking takes athletes into remote terrain where quick emergency response can be challenging. Our partnership with Rudy Project empowers riders to take control of their safety on the trail. By integrating our technology into Rudy Project’s helmets, we’re giving users the tools to be proactive about their safety and providing emergency responders the information they need to respond more effectively.”
The new products were unveiled at the Sea Otter Classic event, with the new helmet models aiming to provide ‘an intelligent layer of protection’ for riders in the 2026 season and beyond.
