Ironman Wales will be shown on Channel 4 television this coming Sunday 28 September at 07.05 GMT and on Channel 4 + 1 at 08.05.
This forthcoming airing of Ironman Wales on mainstream terrestrial TV Channel 4 continues the channel’s recent raft of endurance sport broadcasting, via its partnership with Dream Team Television. A number of events have hit UK TV in recent weeks and months, including: the Castle Howard Triathlon, Tri Liverpool, the Outlaw, the London Triathlon and Ironman UK in Bolton.
Ironman Wales takes place amidst the castles and stunning scenery of Pembrokeshire on the South Wales coast. In 2014, an astonishing 50% embarked on this challenge of a lifetime for the first time, in a bid to gain the Ironman badge of glory by completing the 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike and 26.2 marathon run within the allocated 17 hours.
Renowned for being one of the toughest events on the Ironman Tour, which now offers over 100 events globally, Pembrokeshire has embraced Ironman Wales like no other. Not only did the county boast a record 191 confirmed entries in 2014, but thousands of spectators from far and wide turned out to provide an electric atmosphere, right up to the midnight cut-off.
