‘Most visitors ever’ at Eurobike Demo Day

Earlier in the week, on Tuesday 26 August, a curtain rose on bike innovations for the 2015 season at Lake Constance, Friedrichshafen, Germany. At the eight edition of Eurobike Demo Day, 147 exhibitors presented their product innovations to industry and media representatives from 42 countries.

For the first time, the test event the day before the flagship bike exhibition was held directly on the fairgrounds in Friedrichshafen. “The prologue was a success. Thanks to the move, the hoped-for logistics simplifications really paid off and our customers are very satisfied with the new concept,” summed up Messe Friedrichshafen CEO Klaus Wellmann at the end of Demo Day.

In addition to a 40% increase in the number of exhibitors, the organisers note that Eurobike Demo Day registered increased visitor participation (the most visitors ever) and a strong international character.

Despite cloud-filled skies and rain showers, 2,642 industry visitors (2013: 2,318) put themselves to the test on the on-road and off-road courses, as well as the specially-created mountain bike course.

“We are pleased that the Demo Day improvements got exhibitors, visitors and journalists in a good mood. We were able to create good test conditions and, in addition, to offer exhibitors the opportunity to move forward with their Eurobike assembly work in the exhibition halls,” explained Project Leader Dirk Heidrich.

This view was also reinforced by Reto Aeschbacher, Brand Manager of Scott Sports. “This Demo Day is a wonderful event and the proximity to the fairgrounds is a real plus. The only thing that could be a little better is the weather – but the people in Friedrichshafen will certainly have a plan for that in the future too.”

784 journalists from 42 countries (2013: 732 journalists, 37 countries) reported around the world from the biking event in Friedrichshafen. Press representatives came from every continent, with journalists from Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, South Africa and Portugal attending for the first time.
