POC’s AVIP Bike Auction commits to raise funds for spinal cord injury research and treatment

POC, a leading manufacturer of skiing and cycling helmets, apparel and accessories, is commemorating the launch of its AVIP concept, which promotes safety for road cyclists, with an online auction benefiting the Spinalis Foundation and its mission to support research and treatment development in the field of spinal cord injuries.

POC has partnered with cycling brands Cervélo, fi´zi:k, 3T, HED, Shimano, and TRP to announce an online auction, during which the Swedish helmet brand will accept bids on four one-of-a-kind and unique Cervélo road bicycles. The auction opened today, 17 June, and runs through 1 July.

“Together with our partners, we have custom built, designed and put together the most amazing machines. The bikes are exactly what we wished for, reflecting the philosophy behind AVIP and POC’s entry into the road bike scene,” said POC CEO and founder Stefan Ytterborn.

The auction will feature two limited edition Cervélo RCA road bicycles, each valued at US$20,800, and two Cervélo P5 time trial bikes, each valued at US$19,200.

The proceeds of the auction will support Spinalis, a charitable foundation whose mission is to support research and treatment development in the field of spinal cord injuries.

“The bikes have spent most of their time being showcased at the POC headquarters in Stockholm and we have become connected to them,” added Ytterborn.

“We are really pleased to do an auction for an important cause, and it is with mixed feelings that the bikes are leaving for someone, somewhere. Whoever you are, please promise to take good care of these gems.”

AVIP stands for Attention, Visibility, Interaction and Protection and is ‘POC’s most ambitious initiative to date’, promoting safety for road cyclists. It is a concept that has been created in collaboration with some of the best minds in science, health and technology to redefine the future of road bike safety and performance.

The POC AVIP Bike Charity Auction runs from 17 June through 1 July. Further information about the auction can be found at avip.pocsports.com/bike-auction.
