Sports watch and accessories specialist Polar has forged a partnership with two of the world’s premiere triathletes, Terenzo Bozzone and Tim Don. Both Bozzone and Don finished in the top ten at this year’s IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship. Bozzone is also preparing to compete in this weekend’s IRONMAN World Championships in Kona, Hawaii.
Hailing from New Zealand, Bozzone, adds a strong ninth place finish at the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championships to five existing world triathlon championships. In addition to his third place finish at the 2014 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship, Don is also a three-time Olympian. Originally from London, Don now trains and coaches in Boulder, Colorado.
Bozzone and Don join the successful line-up of #TeamPolar, which already includes Andy Potts, Sarah Haskins, 2013 Ironman World Champion Fredrik Van Lierde, as well as dozens of professional and collegiate teams who rely on the company’s technology.
Bozzone and Don both use the Polar V800 multisport watch. The Polar V800 features integrated GPS and 24/7 activity tracking with customizable multisport profiles, which ‘makes it ideal for professional athletes who want to reach peak performance.’
The Polar V800 is positioned as a perfect training and racing tool for triathletes, with features such as Gorilla Glass, designed to survive harsh training environments, and a completely waterproof charger and charging port. The unit also features the latest future-proof and Bluetooth Smart technology, which allows the V800 to automatically sync with the Polar Flow iPhone and Android app.
“I am really excited to have formalized the partnership with Polar, I have used their products since the start of my career,” said Bozzone. “The technology has become an integral part of my training. The V800 takes this technology to a new level and allows a much more precise and accurate monitoring of my training and rest periods. It is the most important device I use in all three disciplines.”
As part of the partnership, Polar is the official sponsor of Bozzone’s and Don’s Post-Race ‘By the Numbers’ reports, which provide fans with additional statistics about the athletes’ performance and times. Bozzone and Don will also integrate Polar into their vibrant social media platforms, providing their fans with tips to use Polar products to achieve peak physical performance during competition.
“We are motivated by the success of incredible competitors like Bozzone and Don, and honoured to see how the products we make can fuel the success of the world’s top triathletes,” said Herb Baer, Polar USA President. “It’s great to see Bozzone and Don race, and know that Polar was there with them through each stride, stroke and cycle.”
“I am very excited to join Team Polar,” added Tim Don. “Polar has always been the king of heart rate training devices and with the addition of the new V800 they are now at the top of the GPS game as well. The Polar Flow app is invaluable, especially when reviewing my track sessions, which I’ve been doing regularly for most of my career.”
He continued, “I’ve been able to race with the V800 and can say that the custom display and ability to actually read the screen is second to none. The new sleek design is killer and makes it easy to wear outside of training.”
Headquartered in Lake Success, New York, Polar USA is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Finland-based Polar Electro OY, which invented the first wireless heart rate monitor (HRM) in 1977. Polar now operates internationally in more than 80 countries and its products are sold through 35,000 retailers globally.
