Strava rolls out Training Plans for runners with premium membership

Strava - Run Training Plan Mobile

Strava, the global community of athletes, has launched new Training Plans for Runners. Designed for peak race performance in 5K, 10K, half marathon and marathon distances, the training plans include tailored workouts created by the coaches at McMillan Running as well as daily motivational emails and a community of training partners from around the world.

Combined with Strava’s innovative technology and athlete-focused design, the training plans aim to provide a new experience in race preparation. This latest update from Strava follows the recently added Photo Sharing, ‘My Recent Efforts’ and Improved Leaderboards that were unveiled in March.

“At Strava, our goal is to continuously improve the experience of our community of athletes, and customisable running training plans are the latest addition to our Strava Premium offering for runners,” said Aaron Forth, Chief Product Officer at Strava.

“As part of this commitment to runners, we’re delighted to be joining forces with the McMillan team, who have a wide range of clients including Olympic athletes, to help athletes stay motivated, improve and have fun.”

With Strava’s Training Plans for Runners, athletes will tap into customisable features:

  • Tailored for peak performance: Each training plan is tailored to the athlete’s race distance, race date and experience level.
  • Daily workouts via email: Strava delivers daily workouts to athletes’ inboxes for easy access and inspiration.
  • Workout Analysis: Visualise pace zones and lap data for interval workouts using Strava’s new Workout Analysis feature.

Strava notes that its suite of features provides runners everything they need to train:

  • Convenient run tracking: Strava provides activity tracking across dozens of GPS and smart watches, fitness trackers and mobile devices.
  • Race pages: Join any of the 400 virtual race communities by setting goals and training with others who are competing at the same race.
  • Motivation from pros: Be part of the running community with features from top athletes such as Steve Way, Commonwealth Games Marathon runner.
  • Matched runs: Keep an eye on improvements when running the same route more than once with the Strava Matched Runs feature.

Training plans are 6-12 weeks long and based on each runner’s experience level, race distance and date, and number of weekly workouts. The plans, available as part of Strava’s Premium membership, are available at strava.com/athlete/training-plans/running.

Strava Premium athletes, for £3.99 per month (£39.99 per year), receive a range of features including the new Training Plans, incorporating personalised coaching, live feedback and advanced analytics.

Strava aims to unlock the potential of a global community of athletes. Strava’s innovative mobile apps and website connect, motivate and inspire runners and cyclists throughout their experience, from exploration and adventure to training and competition. Designed by athletes, for athletes, Strava unites millions from around the world every day through the sports they love.
