Registration for the Cardiff Triathlon 2017 is now open, with early indications from event organiser Always Aim High pointing towards another sell-out event.
The third Cardiff Triathlon, organised by Always Aim High Events, will take place on the weekend of 24-25 June 2017 with transition and the event village located outside the Wales Millennium Centre, at Cardiff Bay.
The Cardiff Triathlon is billed as ‘the ultimate city race’. Starting with a swim in Cardiff Bay, the triathlon then moves on to a completely closed road cycle through the surrounding streets and is finished off with a run along the Cardiff Bay barrage.

Saturday 24 June
Super Sprint
400m swim, 10 km cycle and 2.5 km run
This is positioned as a great distance for a first time triathlon, for raising money for charity or for getting on the comeback trail after injury.
Sprint
750m swim, 20 km cycle and 5 km run
A step up from the super sprint, the sprint enables athletes to test the waters on the way to an Olympic distance triathlon.
Sunday 25 June
Olympic
1,500m swim, 40 km cycle and 10 km run
Taking place on the same closed roads as the events on Saturday, the enclosed bay swim, flat and quick cycle course and the barrage run are ‘perfect for bagging a PB!’
The event village will feature shops from sponsors, food and drink stalls and family entertainment. At the finish line, the podium and a host of prizes donated by sponsors await the top three finishers in each distance and in each age category.
Over 1,000 people took part in the Cardiff Triathlon 2016 with a notable ‘99.5% of entrants saying they would recommend the event to others’. And with international television coverage taking place across the weekend, Always Aim High argues that ‘this triathlon now stands alongside other great global city triathlon events to be broadcast to millions.’
Prices for the 2017 edition of this triathlon have been frozen, and with an early bird discount in place for the first four weeks.
