Rudy Project has presented a new sunglasses line designed for sport and lifestyle wear alike: the Airgrip. The aesthetically crafted frame combines Italian styling and adaptable features to support a multitude of uses, all while protecting the wearer’s eyes in a unique wraparound style that weighs in at only one ounce.
With distinctive triangular vent lattice work located on the temples, Rudy Project adds that the Airgrip ‘pairs superb airflow with techno-geometric Italian design for a one of kind, versatile look’.
“The first time I laid eyes on the Airgrip, I knew it was going to be an absolute showstopper,” said Paul Craig, President and Co-Founder of Rudy Project North America. “The dynamic and fluid design is perfect for any sport, and perfect for just hanging out and chilling outdoors. It’s the ideal all-in-one gear piece that looks killer on men and women, alike. I believe our engineers really nailed it with this one!”
For outdoor enthusiasts who may need complete side protection, a soft closed-cell peripheral shield can be interchanged with the open-cell comfort pad included with each pair. These two temple accessories aim to allow maximum adaptation for any athlete, and are offered in an array of different colours.
The inspiration for the interchangeable pads came from a Rudy Project photographer, Jordan Rosen, who submitted a photo of a casual sunglass with duct tape flaps wrapped around the temple arms. The technique is an old mountaineering trick, designed to block side light and dangerous UV rays from reaching the eye. The quick-change swappable temple accessories aim to ensure an easy transition between function and style, ‘going from casual wear to high-performance gear in seconds’.
Available in three sport-specific packages – Sailing, Cycling and Outdoor – the Airgrip is engineered to deliver protection from light, wind, dust and other harsh elements. From Rudy Project’s Multilaser optics to Polar3FX, HighContrast and Photochromic lenses, the Airgrip is available with a variety of interchangeable options, is completely ‘Rx-able’ and ‘designed to tackle any outdoor challenge’.
Like all Rudy Project sunglasses, the Airgrip is backed by Rudy Project’s 3 Year Frame Warranty and Replacement Lens Guarantee. This means consumers can opt to replace scratched lenses for a nominal processing fee, ‘no questions asked’.
Designed and crafted in Italy since 1985, Rudy Project has grown quickly as a premier brand throughout North America. Rudy helmets have been recognized as the number one most worn aero / time-trial brand at the IRONMAN World Championships Presented by GoPro in Kona, Hawaii in recent years, and have been designated the Official Helmet of IRONMAN for North America.
