American Bicycle Group (ABG), manufacturer of award-winning high performance bicycle brands – Litespeed and Quintana Roo – has ‘made another strategic move to ensure continued future success’ by investing in a new paint and assembly line for Quintana Roo triathlon bikes at its 40,000 square foot Chattanooga HQ facility.
The new production line will allow athletes to order specific colour combinations and specific bike configurations within in a three to five day turn-around window. This investment is also seen to provide benefits to QR dealers, as ABG will no longer follow the industry practice of front loading dealers with heavy inventory levels.
“The paint and assembly line investment supports ABG’s on-going move toward a Made-in-America philosophy and the Made-to-Order requests we’re receiving daily from athletes,” said ABG President and CEO Peter Hurley. “Athletes have told us they want more flexibility in paint schemes and the ability to fine-tune specifications to fit their needs, and they don’t want to wait weeks or months for it. We listened and then invested.”
The paint and assembly line has been added to the new ABG facility that ABG moved into one year ago. This manufacturing development is part of a long-term strategic plan to ensure ABG is ready to be responsive to market trends and customer needs. The new line also allows QR to more effectively manage and use its inventory instead of sending early-season standardized product to its dealers.
Located minutes from downtown Chattanooga, the facility houses operations for manufacturing, assembly and corporate offices for Litespeed and Quintana Roo.
Based in Chattanooga, Tennessee, American Bicycle Group manufactures high performance bikes under two brands: Litespeed (road, mountain and adventure bikes) and Quintana Roo (triathlon-specific bikes).
