Triathlon Business International (TBI), ‘the industry organization dedicated to promoting the business and sport of triathlon’, has today announced that registration is now open for its 8th Annual Conference, taking place on 26-28 January 2018, at the Mission Palms Resort in Tempe, Arizona.
TBI notes that ‘This is the conference where the business of triathlon gets done’. Attendees represent swim-bike-run retailers and equipment manufacturers, race directors, race service providers, coaches and others who have a stake in the health and growth of the sport. Speakers, workshops and networking focus on the business of the sport – trends; challenges; new technology, equipment and products; promotion and marketing; social media and mobile trends; and other topics designed specifically to bring insights into the market forces that shape the growth of triathlon, and its related sports of swimming, biking and running.
TBI President Dan Empfield said “My last three months have been spent arranging an affordable conference for endurance sport industry stakeholders… To make it easy to travel to and from. To create a professional curriculum for those who work in retail or manufacturing, in event production, or who coach and/or deal directly with athletes.
“I want a conference that will be fun, informative, educational, that activates deal-making, where swim, bike and run will take place daily, and that is sunny in January! I asked our Tech Partner ACTIVE Network to get us up and running for registrations by Interbike, and we did it!”
In addition to the many opportunities to network and make new contacts, there will be three key content tracks, which are being populated by known professionals within the areas of: (1) retail/manufacturers; (2) race directors; and (3) coaches. Each of these tracks has a committee that is creating content and developing panels that can address the issues attendees need and want insight into.
Keynote speakers and conference schedules will be announced over the coming weeks.

Non-members will have the opportunity to join TBI during the conference registration process. Those who join TBI at registration will receive the US$100 discount of a current member.

Conference hotel block
Room reservations at the Tempe Mission Palms are now open for the conference. TBI has a room block for the conference dates at a US$179/night rate, which is a 40% discount off the published weekend rate. This room block is limited and attendees are encouraged to reserve their rooms as soon as possible to avoid missing the opportunity. Conference registration opens at 09:00 local time on Friday 26 January, and outdoor activities are also planned for the morning. Thursday night reservations are available at this rate on a very limited basis.
Tempe is a vibrant college town in the heart of metro Phoenix. The TBI conference is seen as a perfect fit for Tempe, a city that hosts IRONMAN 70.3 Arizona and IRONMAN Arizona annually. In November 2017, Tempe will host the 2017 Triathlon Collegiate National Championship for the third time, and Arizon State University (ASU) is home to the reigning national NCAA triathlon champions.
