Cycling Designs, a start-up company focused on bicycling safety, has announced the introduction of Cyclesight. The new cycling safety product gives bicycle commuters and recreational riders a real-time rear view of traffic from a handlebar display.
Cyclesight is claimed to be the only bicycle safety product on the market that records live traffic so in the event of an accident, the cyclist has video documentation of an incident.
“I’ve given this much thought over the last several years and I’ve personally had a close call on my bike,” said Jeff Gindin, President of Cycling Designs.
“When my sister-in-law was hit by a large pickup while riding – sustaining injuries so severe that she had to be med-evac’d to a trauma hospital – I knew I had to do something to protect cyclists on the road.”
He continued, “Most cycling accidents involve a car hitting the cyclist from behind. And in many instances, the cyclist is unjustly blamed for the accident. Providing riders with a rear view on a handlebar display with video recording capability, we give cyclists peace of mind knowing that they can ride safer and will have video evidence in the event of an accident.”
‘Cyclesight gives riders a real-time visual image to monitor rear approaching traffic. This allows cyclists to see ahead and behind without dangerous head movement. Providing a rear view of up to a half mile, Cyclesight works well in high traffic area.’
With an MSRP of US$299 Cyclesight will officially launch and be available for pre-orders during Sea Otter Play Digital Bike Festival, on September 17-20, 2020.
As a pre-order special, Cyclesight is available for $269 in black. Meanwhile, grey, dark blue, red and purple video display and camera housings colour choices are also available during this pre-order special for US$289.
