Madison, Wisconsin, and Dane County are set to host the return of the midwestern IRONMAN Wisconsin triathlon as well as IRONMAN 70.3 Wisconsin on September 12.
The weekend marks the first time that both IRONMAN Wisconsin & IRONMAN 70.3 Wisconsin have taken place on the same day. The combined events will welcome approximately 4,000 registered participants.
(Next year, IRONMAN has confirmed that the 2022 IRONMAN Wisconsin will shift from its traditional September race date to an all-new early summer date of Sunday, June 19, 2022 for the 20th anniversary of the event.)
The 2021 IRONMAN Wisconsin will offer qualifying slots to the 2022 IRONMAN World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i. While, 2021 IRONMAN 70.3 Wisconsin will offer qualifying slots to the 2022 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in St George, Utah.
Both events take athletes on a swim in Lake Monona, a bike through rural Dane County and a run through the University of Wisconsin campus, before finishing in the heart of downtown Madison in front of the State Capitol.
The IRONMAN Village Expo will take place at Monona Terrace and opens on Thursday, September 9 showcasing some of the latest products in the industry. In accordance with IRONMAN’s Safe Return to Racing operating principles, everyone who enters IRONMAN Village will be subject to a pre-race health questionnaire.
All individuals are required to wear a face covering around all indoor event venues. Staff and volunteers will be provided with face coverings; and athletes will be provided with face coverings at packet pick-up.
IRONMAN adds that hand sanitizer, hand washing stations and disinfectant wipes will be available around the event venues. Cleaning of common venue areas will be enhanced. Disposable gloves will be used in applicable areas.
