This month, event organiser Active Training World (ATW) is celebrating its 10 year anniversary. Set-up by James Shipley in 2011, originally as a hobby business, the company has continued to grow, despite the recent challenging times.
Recently it has taken over the organisation of Watford Half Marathon and has partnered with hoohaah events to deliver its events.
In 2020, ATW took ownership of the St Albans Half Marathon, and acquired Dengie Events and Nice Tri events.
British Triathlon has selected the company for 10 qualifier races over the last three years. With over 55,000 athletes competing in 2019 across a variety of sporting disciplines: triathlon, running, cycling, open water swimming and permutations of these Active Training World adds that it has cemented its position as one of the largest endurance event organisers in the UK.
Active Training World will be sharing its success with a 10 day celebration with its community. The activity will be supported by its partners including Zone3, Sundried and Running Reborn. More information will feature on its social media channels. Athletes will also be invited to use a 10% off code for any ATW event.
Company founder James Shipley said “To think that ten years ago I set Active Training World up as a hobby, just because I had a passion for running and triathlons and wanted to do something fun.
“10 years later I’m still having fun, and despite a lot of long hours and personal sacrifices over the years, it’s all been worth it!
“It still fills me with joy to witness so many smiles coming through the finishing line, watching athletes who have become close friends pursue athletic accolades at the events and to now be known as one of the largest endurance event organisers in the UK (without losing our community and friendly touch). We couldn’t have done it without our wonderful, friendly Active Training World community.”
