British cyclist and time trial specialist Alex Dowsett has joined Body Rocket, the start-up that is developing ‘the world’s first accurate on-road aerodynamics measurement device on the bike for cyclists and triathletes.’
Dowsett boasts a successful career that has seen him ride on the professional UCI WorldTour circuit, win multiple National Time Trial Championship titles and a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games. He is a Giro d’Italia stage winner, and, in 2015 set a new world record for cycling 52.937 kilometres in one hour.
With his sights on a new UCI Hour Record in the not-too-distance future, Body Rocket notes that the pro rider has ‘always valued the importance of aerodynamics in cycling and recognises how integral it is to the pursuit of world-class performance.’
Pioneering the future of performance cycling through aerodynamics, Body Rocket’s unique patented technology measures coefficient drag in real-time, in real conditions on the road.
Comprising four sensors, on the handlebars, seat post, and on each pedal, the system isolates the rider from the bike. With the body accounting for 80% of drag, empowering the rider with the ability to use live data to optimise their body position provides a performance tool for anyone serious about getting faster on the bike.
The partnership will see Alex Dowsett joining Body Rocket as an investor and early tester of the system. He will provide his insights and knowledge around aerodynamics and cycling performance to help refine the product ahead of its global launch.
