The virtual edition of the Corsa Rosa has got its third stage under way after the urban prologue of Torino and the ascent of Monte Zoncolan. In the third stage, riders face a virtual Alpe Motta climb on the BKOOL virtual cycling platform to unlock a virtual Maglia Blanca.
Parallel to the 105th edition of the Giro d’Italia that is currently taking place, the virtual Giro d’Italia hosted by BKOOL brings together thousands of cycling fans from around the world to compete on the same stages as the pro cyclists.
The indoor cycling experience, created by BKOOL and RCS Sport, allows any amateur cyclist to experience the Giro without having to leave home. To participate, riders require a smart cycling trainer or a smart bike. Registration is now open at girovirtual.com, with the option of trying the experience on BKOOL free for 30 days.
BKOOL has created a virtual simulation platform, which combines HD video with 3D elements to generate an immersive experience. After the first urban stage in Torino and the second with the ascent to the Zoncolan, the third stage began on May 17.
The virtual experience can also be tried in-person in Italy, in Giroland, the race village that accompanies each stage of the Giro d’Italia in its finish area.
The Virtual Giro d’Italia hosted by BKOOL will run until July 10, ending with a prize draw among all its participants. Among the prizes to be raffled are… ‘VIP experiences in some of the most famous and important races in Italy, as well as cycling equipment, Tissot watches and several replica units of the iconic pink jersey.’
