Bikmo has announced that Pendle Panthers has won the Bikmo Club of the Year Award in partnership with British Cycling. The award is intended to reward and recognise the hard work of local cycling clubs and to help to invest in the sport of cycling at a grassroots level.
The Club of the Year Award is a key part of British Cycling’s partnership with specialist cycling insurer Bikmo.
Six regional winners have also been announced. Those clubs will receive one-year free British Cycling standard club affiliation and £100 per club from Bikmo for them to spend (towards race entry fees, a trip away, or some coffee on Bikmo on their next social ride).
In order to be considered, applicants must explain how they would use the additional funds to grow their impact, including how they would develop and widen the diversity of their membership, how they would engage with the local community and how they would generally raise the profile of the club.
After over 60 entries, Pendle Panthers + Cycle Sport Pendle were selected as the overall winner… ‘Due to their all-inclusive family spirit and overall support of the community, through events such as their ‘Summer Jam’, that not only showcases the club but also raises lots of money for local and national causes.’
The £1000 Club of the Year prize from Bikmo will help support investing in kids’ BMX bikes to hire out for £1 at club sessions, purchase more full-face helmets to lend out, and be able to pay for the maintenance of a fleet of bikes.
British Cycling is further supporting the club with a Level 1 Coaching Programme worth £1,000 to help support the club’s development.

“We’re delighted to be supporting the club to invest in BMXs to hire out for their community which we hope will inspire a new generation of riders to get active on 2 wheels.”
