Elastic Interface owner CyTech has announced that N3X, its 3D-printing technology for cycling pads, is now patented.
According to CyTech… ‘N3X is the culmination of years of studies, research and prototyping during which CyTech has built up an impressive wealth of information, not all public, about 3D printing as well as the application of this technology to pads [that] have specific technical features, providing an innovative, unique technical solution that opens up a new frontier for the cycling apparel industry.’
Produced entirely with 3D-printing techniques wholly owned by CyTech, this technology required, and still requires, considerable investments by the San Vendemiano-based company.
Italian company CyTech has implemented strict market controls to detect any possible counterfeits and to protect its rights as and when necessary.
Elastic Interface N3X is a 3D-printed padding specially engineered to improve the characteristics of conventional polyurethane foams and overcome their limitations, enabling cyclists to experience comfort and performance.
The N3X insert made by Elastic Interface, CyTech’s premium brand, delivers temperature control in the sensitive pad area, as well as ergonomic support, durable protection, breathability, a low-profile design, customisation and claimed zero waste.
3D printing gives Elastic Interface control over the material’s structure. The 3D-printed padding’s open-cell lattice improves air flow to more efficiently cool the area and wick away moisture, which ensures quicker drying and optimised skin temperature management.
N3X pads can be found in bib shorts by brands such as GoreWear, whose Ultimate Bib Shorts won the 2023 ISPO Design Award, and X-Bionic, which has recently launched the COREFUSION Compression bib shorts.
