According to Challenge Family, Québec in Ontario is establishing itself as a must-visit destination for triathlon in North America.
Building on Challenge Family’s return to racing in North America last year, the second edition of SAIL Challenge Québec powered by Argon 18 reported increased participation.
Over two days of competition, nearly 2,000 athletes from across North America and Europe took on Sprint, Olympic, and Middle Distance racing on an urban course – weaving through the historic architecture of Old Québec, with views of the St Lawrence and Saint-Charles rivers.
Another milestone was the first-ever Canadian Armed Forces National Triathlon Championship held in Québec City, with 80 military athletes on the start line, preceded by a stirring rendition of the national anthem performed by a Canadian Forces musical ensemble.
More than 500 volunteers also played a key role in making the event possible, braving rainy conditions.
“In just two years, SAIL Challenge Québec, powered by Argon 18, has won the hearts of the triathlon community thanks to its unique course, warm welcome, and high-level organisation,” said Dominique Piché, Executive Producer and Race Director.
“It’s much more than just a start and finish line – it’s a true boutique triathlon experience in the heart of the Capitale-Nationale. I want to acknowledge the commitment of our partners, the City of Québec, the Port of Québec, and especially the incredible energy of our 500 volunteers. Together, they are helping elevate this event to the international stage.”
Looking ahead to 2026, the event will take a step forward with the introduction of a full-distance race (3.8km swim, 180km bike, and 42.2km run), developed in collaboration with DATEV Challenge Roth. This addition aims to further strengthen Québec’s place on the international Challenge Family calendar.
The third edition is scheduled for June 26–28, 2026.
