New York City-based apparel brand MILER RUNNING and multi-sport collective Point B Movement have stepped out with a new Vertical Finder series of group runs, designed to support participants taking on the brands’ Vertical Summer 100K Challenge on Strava.
The challenge, which runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day, tasks runners with completing 100,000 feet of elevation gain, with at least half of that total logged within New York City.
The Vertical Finder series features three runs across the summer, each designed to help participants find vertical gain within the city. The first of the three runs got under way last week:
Vertical Finder I: Brooklyn Bridges
Date: Thursday, June 19, 2025 – 19:00 ET
Location: Session Training, 28 Frost St, Williamsburg, Brooklyn
Distance: 9 miles
This guided session includes repeats across two bridges and hilly terrain around Brooklyn Heights.
Vertical Finder II: Shirley Chisholm State Park
Date: Saturday, July 12, 2025 – 09:00 ET
Location: West Parking Area, Shirley Chisholm State Park
Distance: 5, 10 or 15 miles (pace groups available)
This session takes advantage of some of the city’s highest ground, followed by complimentary ice cream and refreshments.
Vertical Finder III: Greenwood Cemetery
Date: Tuesday, August 19, 2025 – 19:00 ET
Location: District Gym, 106 1st Place, Brooklyn
Distance: 8 or 12 miles (pace groups available)
This hilly run explores Greenwood Cemetery and Sunset Park, with ‘extra credit’ elevation available for those looking to push further.
Runners interested in joining the Vertical Summer 100K Challenge can join via Strava and follow MILER RUNNING’s club page to stay updated on local events. Other regular meet-ups include the ‘Dirt City: Sunrise Trails’, a weekly Wednesday morning trail run in Prospect Park.
