Belgian bike brand Ridley has introduced its first dedicated triathlon model, the Triton Fast. The bike was developed in close collaboration with IRONMAN 70.3 World Champion Jelle Geens and focuses on achieving a balance of aerodynamics, a modular design, and integrated storage solutions.
Ridley claims that aerodynamics played a central role in the design, with the Triton Fast undergoing optimisation in independent wind tunnel tests. This included profiling the tube shapes, cockpit, and the integration of nutrition and storage packs. Ridley claims that the frameset (frame and fork) is 325g lighter than the comparable top model of its main competitor, and is aimed at delivering increased acceleration and energy efficiency during long-distance races.
Customers purchasing the bike can book an exclusive wind tunnel test and bike fit through the Aero Performance Lab in Beringen, Belgium, to determine their optimal size and position.
The Triton Fast features a progressive, triathlon-specific geometry designed to position the athlete closer to the bottom bracket for stability and power transfer. An innovative element is the inclusion of flip chips in the fork, which allow riders to fine-tune the handling with millimetre precision, adjusting for course conditions or personal preference.
Key design details include:
- Advanced Cockpit: The cockpit uses a monoriser system and wing that can be continuously adjusted for height, reach, and angle. It is also designed for ease of travel, requiring only two bolts for disassembly.
- Integrated Hydration: A unique internal hydration system runs through a tunnel inside the frame, allowing athletes to drink without leaving the time-trial position.
- Modular Storage: A system of modular packs is strategically integrated into the frame for aerodynamic storage of nutrition and tools.
The Triton Fast is available in four sizes: XS, S, M, and L. Groupset options include SRAM Force XPLR 1×13, SRAM Red XPLR 1×13, and SRAM Rival 2×12 AXS. The 1×13 configurations were selected to focus on maximum aerodynamics by removing the front derailleur and using aero-specific chainrings to reduce drag.
As part of Ridley’s Elite Series, the model is fully customisable via the company’s online configurator, where triathletes can choose their own colours and design.
