Triathlon England has appointed Rob Johnson, a business leader and former professional IRONMAN athlete, as its new Chair. He will take up the role in January 2026.
Johnson succeeds Debbie Clarke, who became British Triathlon Chair in July 2025. Kevin Currell has been serving as Interim Chair at Triathlon England during the recruitment process.
Johnson brings senior leadership experience across multiple industries. He currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of the Isle of Wight Chamber of Commerce.
He previously worked for Speedo International for eight years, leading the international strategy for elite swimwear products. He later became a Sales Director for Liz Earle Beauty Company. Johnson is also a qualified British Triathlon coach.
Rob Johnson said “I’m excited to take on the role of Chair at Triathlon England, following on from the outstanding contribution Debbie and Kevin have made to the organisation.
“I’m really looking forward to working with my fellow board members and continuing the crucial work that has been started on reviewing and restructuring the regions in England. In particular I am looking forward to engaging with clubs, event deliverers, and the wider membership over the months ahead.”
Ruth Daniels, Chief Executive of Triathlon England and British Triathlon, said “Rob’s extensive leadership experience and proven track record in business as well as his understanding and love of triathlon, as an athlete and junior club coach, will be invaluable as we move forward with the next stage of our strategy.”
Daniels added that Johnson’s ability to navigate complex organisational challenges and drive growth makes him a tremendous asset to Triathlon England and the wider triathlon community. She also thanked Kevin Currell for stepping into the Interim Chair role.
