The organisers of the Altra Brighton Half Marathon and Wheelchair Race have confirmed the event’s return on Sunday, February 28, 2027, with the accompanying Youth Race taking place the previous day, Saturday, February 27. Both events will be centered around Hove Lawns on the Brighton seafront on England’s south coast.

The mass-participation event attracts over 10,000 runners annually for its fast, flat 13.1-mile coastal course. The route begins on Hove Lawns, taking participants east along the seafront past landmarks including the Brighton i360 and Brighton Palace Pier, before turning inland past the Royal Pavilion and out towards East Brighton.

The second half of the course directs runners west along Madeira Drive towards Hove Lagoon and the seafront beach huts, returning to the finish line on Hove Lawns.

The event is organised by Laine8 Events on behalf of title owner and main beneficiary the Sussex Beacon Hospice, a Brighton-based HIV care charity. During the previous edition, over 800 participants running for ‘Team Beacon’ raised more than £300,000 for the hospice. Overall, the race weekend raises approximately £1.3 million annually for national and regional charities.

Partner charities for 2027 include Macmillan Cancer Support, Alzheimer’s Society, Grassroots Suicide Prevention, Parkinson’s UK, Samaritans, Southern Hospice Group, Taylor-Made Dreams, and the Venkat Memorial Trust.

The 2027 weekend will also see independent school group Lancing College join as the new headline sponsor for the Youth Race. Held on the Saturday, the chip-timed 1-mile event caters to young runners aged 7–17 across multiple age categories. In addition to title sponsorship, Lancing College staff will deliver race warm-ups, manage volunteer stations, and enter student teams.

Children’s charity Rockinghorse returns as the official Youth Race charity partner, alongside local non-profits Focus Foundation, Pelican Parcels, and The Running Charity.

Dr Scott Crawford, Headmaster at Lancing College, said “We believe that sport is one of the most powerful ways of developing character in young people. Encouraging pupils to set themselves a challenge, commit to training and experience the pride of crossing the finish line reflects the values we champion across the Lancing College Family of Schools every day. We are proud to be the headline sponsor of the Brighton Half Marathon Youth Races in 2027 and look forward to supporting all the young runners taking part.”

General registration for the 2027 Altra Brighton Half Marathon, Wheelchair Race, Charity Relay, and Youth Race is open via the event website, with general entry allocation expected to close on October 31, 2026.
