ASICS Los Angeles Marathon signs broadcast deal with NBC4 and Telemundo 52

ASICS Los Angeles Marathon signs broadcast deal with NBC4 and Telemundo 52

The ASICS Los Angeles Marathon has announced a new multi-year broadcasting partnership with NBC4 and Telemundo 52, beginning with this year’s event on March 8, 2026.

The agreement will run through to at least the 2029 race, providing coverage for English and Spanish-speaking audiences across southern California and the wider USA.

The partnership includes broadcast, digital, and streaming platforms. According to the event organiser, the deal will provide the event with a level of national reach it has not previously possessed. This is particularly relevant as the city prepares for the upcoming Olympic Games, of which NBC4 is a partner.

The McCourt Foundation, the US-based non-profit which produces the marathon, noted that 38% of the event’s participants are Hispanic. The inclusion of Telemundo 52 as a broadcast partner is intended to better serve this significant portion of the running community.

Murphy Reinschreiber, Chief Operating Officer of The McCourt Foundation, said “The ASICS Los Angeles Marathon is one of the great marathons of the world and NBC4 and Telemundo 52’s suite of platforms allows us the national reach we haven’t previously had.

“With the Olympics coming to Los Angeles, the marathon being an iconic Olympic sport, and NBC4 being the Olympic partner, what better relationship could we have?”

The live programming will be co-produced by filmmaker Jon Dunham. For the 2026 season, the broadcast will move its commentary desk from a studio to the finish line in Century City, CA. Veteran commentator Toni Reavis will return for his 41st year, joined by three-time Olympian Deena Kastor.

The production will be supported by Tata Communications at its facility, The Switch @ Victory Studios.

SportFive facilitated the relationship between the foundation and the broadcasters and will explore international distribution opportunities for the event.

The ASICS Los Angeles Marathon is the city’s largest community event, featuring a sold-out field of over 25,000 runners. The course, known as ‘Stadium to the Stars’, begins at Dodger Stadium and finishes near Avenue of the Stars.

The race weekend also includes the LA 5K on March 7, 2026, and a two-day Lifestyle Expo held at Dodger Stadium on March 6–7. The expo is free to the public and is expected to attract more than 70,000 attendees and up to 100 exhibitors.

The McCourt Foundation was established in 1992 and operates as a non-profit with offices in Boston, MA and Los Angeles, CA. Since its inception, it has generated more than US$76 million for its charity partners and donated over US$7.2 million to neurology research.

Todd Mohktari, President and General Manager at Telemundo 52 and NBC4, said “Partnering with the ASICS Los Angeles Marathon allows us to celebrate one of the city’s most iconic events and deliver coverage that reflects the diversity of southern California.

“Through NBC4 and Telemundo 52, along with our digital and streaming platforms, we’re proud to deliver every inspiring moment in both English and Spanish.”
