Boulderthon, the annual running event in Boulder, CO, has named Athletic Brewing Company as the Official After-Party Sponsor for its 2026 race weekend. The marathon event, which is presented by lululemon, is organised by Boulderthon, a 501(c)(3) community non-profit organisation.

The 2026 edition of Boulderthon is scheduled to take place on September 26, 2026.

As part of the agreement, every participant crossing the finish line will receive a complimentary can of non-alcoholic beer from Athletic Brewing. The partnership intends to establish a finish line celebration focused on community and mindfulness, according to the event organisers.

According to a release from the Boulderthon team, the collaboration connects two brands with roots in the endurance and active lifestyle sectors. Boulderthon was founded in 2021 by Phil Dumontet with the goal of establishing a premier marathon event in the city. The race weekend has grown from 1,600 inaugural participants to more than 15,000 runners, making it one of the fastest-growing marathon events in the United States.

The event includes a full marathon, a half marathon, a 10K presented by Cheribundi, a Heart to Heart 5K by Boulder Community Health, and a kids’ run. The full marathon is a USATF-sanctioned event and serves as a Boston Marathon qualifier. In its fifth year, the event generated an estimated economic impact of US$22.8 million for the local and regional economy. Beyond the race weekend, the non-profit organization coordinates ongoing volunteer programs, environmental initiatives, and year-round community events, alongside an accessibility program providing no-cost race entries.

Athletic Brewing, which launched commercially in 2018, operates as a dedicated non-alcoholic brewer. The company developed a proprietary brewing method to re-engineer the non-alcoholic beer production process, testing the system through hundreds of small-batch trials. It has become a prominent brand in the American non-alcoholic beer sector, securing nearly 200 taste awards over the past decade.

The company operates custom brewing facilities in Connecticut and California, distributing its products to over 75,000 retail locations. Additionally, the brewer is a Certified B Corporation and allocates up to US$2 million annually to outdoor conservation projects through its Two For The Trails program.

Alexa Squillaro, Event Director of Boulderthon, said “Over the past several years, we’ve heard more and more from our participants that they want high-quality non-alcoholic options as part of the race weekend experience. Athletic is the perfect partner because they embody the same spirit of adventure, balance and community. We’re excited to celebrate every finisher with something that is authentic to both the Boulder lifestyle and the evolving running community – and that is great-tasting!”

Runners across all distance categories will have access to the non-alcoholic beers within the official post-race festival and finish line celebration area. The event attracts participants from all 50 US states, utilizing a fast course that features the Flatirons rock formations as a backdrop.

Rosalie Kennedy, Senior Marketing Director at Athletic Brewing Company, said “We’re thrilled to team up with Boulderthon and support an event that has become such an important part of the running community. At Athletic, we believe celebration and mindfulness go hand-in-hand, and we can’t wait to help runners toast their accomplishments after crossing the finish line.”
