World Triathlon has announced two additions to the 2026 World Triathlon Cup calendar following approval by its executive board. Beijing, China, will join the circuit as a host city, while the existing event in Hong Kong will expand to include a Mixed Relay Cup.
The Beijing World Triathlon Cup is scheduled for October 17, 2026. The event will be held over the standard distance and marks the return of top-tier triathlon to the city for the first time since 2011, when it hosted the WTCS Grand Final. Beijing also famously served as the venue for the sport’s Olympic appearance during the 2008 Summer Games.
The addition of Beijing is intended to strengthen the Asian leg of the international circuit and provide elite athletes with a high-profile competition during the Olympic qualification period.
In Hong Kong, the World Triathlon Cup scheduled for November 7–8, 2026, will now feature a Mixed Relay Cup event on the Sunday. The weekend programme will consist of:
- Saturday, November 7 – Elite Women’s and Elite Men’s Sprint races
- Sunday, November 8 – Mixed Relay Cup
World Triathlon expressed its gratitude to the Chinese Triathlon Association and the Hong Kong Triathlon Federation for their commitment to growing the sport in the region.
The governing body also confirmed it is working with local organisers in Abu Dhabi to explore rescheduling options for WTCS Abu Dhabi events, which were recently postponed.
The 2026 season features a comprehensive global schedule including the World Triathlon Championship Series (WTCS), the Mixed Relay World Championships in Hamburg, and the Multisport Championships in Abu Dhabi in November. The calendar also includes the Para Triathlon World Championships in Pontevedra, Spain, on September 25–27, 2026.
