Expanded sensor integration and firmware updates for Wahoo ELEMNT bike computers

Wahoo Fitness has unveiled a series of firmware updates for its ELEMNT bike computers, introducing native integration with four next-generation training sensors.

The update allows riders to view data from CORE, FLOWBIO, Tymewear, and hDrop sensors directly on their ELEMNT device screens during a ride. According to Wahoo, these updates are driven by customer feedback and aim to bring lab-grade physiological monitoring directly to outdoor training.

The data fields will sit alongside traditional metrics such as power and heart rate on ELEMNT head units, allowing athletes to manage pacing, hydration, cooling, and energy in real time.

The CORE Body Temperature Sensor provides continuous, non-invasive core body temperature readings to help optimise pacing and heat training strategies.

Ross McGraw, Chief Commercial Officer of CORE, said “The newest integration with WAHOO cycling computers brings real-time thermal insights where it matters most, right to the handlebars. Now athletes from you and me, to Tadej and Lucy Charles-Barclay can easily see Heat Strain Index and Heat Zone graphics in real-time while training and racing.”

FLOWBIO’s sensor measures fluid and sodium loss continuously during exercise, streaming readings into its Advanced Hydration Intelligence platform. The device, which can be worn on the arm or clipped to a heart rate strap, is utilized by World Tour teams and performance centres such as Red Bull High Performance in Salzburg.

Stefan van der Fluit, Founder and CEO at FLOWBIO, said “Hydration has been one of the last parts of endurance training to rely on guesswork. Power, heart rate and pacing are all measured and visible to the rider during the session. Sweat loss has typically been estimated afterwards, if it is measured at all. Since we introduced the FLOWBIO Sensor to market last year, real-time understanding of water and salt losses has been the most requested feature, both from amateur customers and from the pro athletes and teams who use our device daily to dial in their hydration.”

Van der Fluit added that bringing the data onto the Wahoo ELEMNT V3 closes that gap, noting the brand has seen early adoption across the T100 Triathlon World Tour with athletes such as Sam Dickinson and Ellie Salthouse, as well as coaches such as Kevin Poulton at UAE Team Emirates.

The hDrop sensor provides real-time sweat analysis to monitor hydration and electrolyte loss, helping to translate sweat composition data into training insights.

Adria Abella, Co-Founder of hDrop, said “hDrop was built to make real-time sweat and hydration data accurate, reusable, and affordable for athletes. Our independently validated sensor is used by thousands of athletes worldwide and is recognized as one of the most accurate sweat sensors available. Through the Wahoo integration, athletes will be able to connect hDrop to their Wahoo devices and view real-time hydration data directly during training and racing.”

Tymewear’s VitalPro chest strap measures breathing to identify an athlete’s ventilatory thresholds (VT1 and VT2). The brand points to research indicating that individual threshold-based training improves performance outcomes across all tested athletes and delivers more than double the fitness gains compared to standard zones.

Arnar Larusson, CEO and Founder of Tymewear, said “With the Tymewear VitalPro on the Wahoo head unit, cyclists can see exactly when they cross their ventilatory thresholds, live on the ride. Breathing is a source of truth riders around the world are using to train based on their unique physiology, and we’re excited to put it in the hands of Wahoo’s community.”

The CORE integration update is live on June 2, 2026, followed by the FLOWBIO, Tymewear, and hDrop integrations which are scheduled to go live later this month.

Gareth Joyce, CEO of Wahoo, said “At Wahoo, we’re constantly focused on delivering meaningful innovation that enhances the riding experience for every athlete. Partnering with these innovative sensor brands reflects our commitment to listen to our customers and continuously evolve the ELEMNT ecosystem through meaningful software updates”

The updated firmware is available to all existing and future ELEMNT V3 users. Based in Atlanta, GA, Wahoo Fitness provides an ecosystem of connected fitness technology across cycling, running, triathlon, and general fitness.
