The official routes for the 20th anniversary of Life Time UNBOUND Gravel 200 presented by Shimano have been announced by organiser Life Time. For the first time since 2023, the courses will head south of Emporia, Kansas.
The marquee 200-mile course serves as the second round of the 2026 Life Time Grand Prix and is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 30, 2026, starting and finishing in Emporia, KS.
Heading south, before looping back north, the UNBOUND Gravel 200 encompasses 207 miles of gravel roads and features 2,743m of climbing. While the route utilises the traditional lead-out from Emporia, the turn south introduces a mix of sectors and new additions to the race profile.
After passing through the first Elite Feed Zone in Madison at mile 43.5, riders will reach Texaco Hill. Stretching from mile 59 to 63, this climb has become a staple of southern UNBOUND Gravel 200 routes and is followed quickly by the steep gradients of Teeter Hill at mile 69.
The second half of the race navigates W Road at mile 130, which is a brand new section for the event, before entering Council Grove at mile 163. A signature element of many of the north courses, riders will cross directly over the Lake Kahola dam at mile 178, where the organiser expects crowds to support participants through the final 30 miles.
As the field enters the home stretch, they will head up the Highland Hill paved climb and back to Commercial St to cross the finish line in Emporia.
New for the 2026 season, Elite Feed Zones will be formally separated from age-group checkpoints at both the UNBOUND Gravel 200-mile and the Leadville Trail 100 MTB. Life Time noted these zones will be tightly controlled to enhance safety, reduce congestion, and protect competitive integrity. Specific guidelines, such as feeding from the right side only and no support from moving vehicles, will be implemented.
Free-to-view coverage will be available on the official Life Time Grand Prix YouTube channel starting at 05:35 CDT on May 30, 2026. THE LEADOUT, the Life Time Grand Prix Pre-Race Show, will air live from Emporia, KS, on Friday, May 29, 2026, at 12:00 CDT.
Michelle Duffy, Director of the Life Time Grand Prix, said “For the 20th anniversary of UNBOUND Gravel, we wanted to create a course that reflects the history and spirit of this event.
“This year’s route rolls south out of Emporia before looping back in from the north, combining iconic sectors from both directions with new roads that add a fresh challenge. It’s a course that brings together some of the most memorable terrain from the past 20 years into one truly special edition of UNBOUND Gravel.
“We head into the second round of the Life Time Grand Prix with a brand-new men’s overall leader, Bradyn Lange, and what is arguably our strongest and most international women’s field to date. With free live coverage on the Life Time Grand Prix YouTube channel, fans around the world will be able to follow every mile of this historic edition of Life Time UNBOUND Gravel presented by Shimano.”
