Mizuno has unveiled the Hyperwarp 96, a 96g racing shoe designed for competitive runners seeking lightweight cushioning and speed.
Joining Mizuno’s Hyperwarp series, the shoe was first showcased at the Berlin Marathon, which was held on September 27, 2026. The new launch follows investment in product development at the brand’s Osaka headquarters in Japan, enabling new prototypes to be produced within 48 hours based on tester feedback.
The shoe features a new midsole foam, Mizuno Enerzy XP+, precision-engineered to achieve a sub-100g weight while maintaining cushioning and responsive rebound. The midsole design was achieved by removing excess material from areas not engaged during foot strike.
The Hyperwarp 96 incorporates a full-length 3D carbon plate, known as the Smooth Speed Plate, alongside a laceless 3D engineered spray-on upper. The upper is constructed in two parts, utilising dual-density material around the lower section and single-density material for the remainder.
The shoe features a 3mm drop, a stack height of 36.0mm–39.0mm, and weighs 96g (3.4oz).
Founded in 1906 in Osaka, Japan, sports equipment brand Mizuno manufactures performance footwear and apparel across multiple sports disciplines internationally.
