MVC Group enters bikepacking market with acquisition of Tailfin

Tailfin bikepacking accessories

Technical sports apparel specialist MVC Group has acquired Tailfin, the manufacturer of premium bikepacking bags, racks, and accessories.

The transaction marks MVC Group’s entry into the bikepacking space, expanding its portfolio alongside existing technical cycling apparel brands Castelli and Sportful.

The acquisition was announced on September 24, 2026. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Founded in Bristol, UK, in 2017 by Chief Executive Officer Nick Broadbent, Tailfin designs and manufactures bikepacking equipment utilising proprietary technologies protected by more than 20 granted and pending patents. Over the past five years, Tailfin has reportedly achieved average annual revenue growth of approximately 50%, reaching almost €10 million in revenue in 2025 across international markets, with over half generated in the US, UK, and Germany.

Tailfin’s founder and management team will continue to lead the company while retaining a minority stake. The acquisition will leverage MVC Group’s global commercial platform – which spans 75 countries and 10 subsidiaries – to support Tailfin’s international expansion.

Additionally, Tailfin’s engineering expertise is expected to support product development across MVC Group’s other endurance brands, including triathlon brand Zoot and outdoor apparel brand Karpos.

Following the transaction, MVC Group expects to revise upwards its three-year industrial plan targets, which previously aimed for €150 million in revenues by 2028. The deal represents the group’s fourth transaction in less than a year, following the launch of its UK subsidiary in July, the acquisition of Wolvenberg in February to form MVC Benelux, and Zoot’s acquisition of its European distributor.

Emilio Foà, Chief Executive Officer at MVC Group, said “The most valuable acquisitions are those that strengthen an organisation’s capabilities. With Tailfin, we are not simply adding a new product category: we are integrating a leading brand whose positioning around excellence and strong focus on innovation are fully aligned with our own brands, while also being complementary to their offering.

“We are also integrating a strategic asset: the company’s distinctive technological expertise and extensive intellectual property, which could generate product innovation across the different disciplines in which we operate, from cycling and triathlon to outdoor sports. We are delighted to welcome Nick and the entire team, and look forward to working together to unlock Tailfin’s significant potential for further international growth and to embark on a new phase of shared development.”

Nick Broadbent, Founder and Chief Executive Officer at Tailfin said “Since Tailfin was founded, we have invested heavily in innovation to develop products that set the standard within the rapidly growing category of bikepacking and adventure cycling. Joining MVC Group will allow us to accelerate this journey further, leveraging the Group’s industrial strength and international presence, while preserving the identity, autonomy and innovation culture that have made Tailfin so successful.”
