On LightSpray technology on tour in London for immersive experience

On LightSpray technology

Swiss sportswear brand On is showcasing its LightSpray technology with an immersive public experience in London. Located at 3 Hanover Square, the On LightSpray Tour London runs from April 24–26, 2026, coinciding with the city’s peak running season.

The experience allows runners to view the LightSpray robot in action as it creates a shoe upper in three minutes. Attendees can also participate in a data-driven product test run, known as the ‘Dream Run’, and listen to insights from four-time marathon winner Hellen Obiri.

On is a performance sportswear brand founded in the Swiss Alps in 2010. The company is known for its CloudTec innovation and is currently present in more than 80 countries worldwide.

According to the company, LightSpray technology represents a shift in footwear manufacturing, condensing traditional upper production – which typically involves 200 steps – into a single automated process. A robotic arm sprays 1.5km of specialised filament to create a one-piece upper, a method designed to reduce waste and lower the carbon footprint compared to conventional racing shoes.

Bianca Pestalozzi-Houchangnia, General Manager EMEA at On, said “London is one of the world’s most influential running cities, so bringing LightSpray here during marathon week feels like a natural next step for On. This technology represents a completely new approach to how performance footwear can be designed and produced, and it’s exciting to give the UK running community the opportunity to experience it firsthand.”

The London activation includes collaboration with Healf, a UK-based wellbeing platform. Here, a schedule features movement sessions, workshops, and a pre-marathon party on Friday, April 24, followed by a recovery zone on Sunday, April 26.

On has recently increased its production capacity 30-fold with the opening of a second manufacturing facility near Busan, South Korea. The brand is showcasing the LightSpray Cloudmonster 3 Hyper, an all-round training shoe weighing 190g, and the LightSpray Cloudboom Strike, its lightest racing shoe at 170g.

The Cloudboom Strike is engineered specifically for the 42.2km marathon distance, providing propulsive cushioning and a laceless construction. According to the company, it plans to explore further applications for LightSpray across other product categories throughout 2026.
