Targeting a comfy landing on the trails, Altra updates Olympus 7 trail running shoe

Olympus 7 by Altra

Altra, the Utah-founded performance footwear brand, has introduced the Olympus 7, the latest iteration of its max-cushion trail running shoe. The shoe officially launched on August 12, 2026.

Designed for long-distance trail running and hiking, the model features an updated Altra EGO MAX midsole foam that is claimed to be 15% lighter and 10% softer than its predecessor. According to the company, the changes are aimed at helping runners stay fresh over extended miles.

The shoe retains Altra’s zero-drop platform and original FootShape fit, which provides a roomier toe box to allow for natural foot movement and toe splay. Additional updates include a plusher tongue, an integrated comfort collar, a breathable engineered mesh upper, and new moulded TPU overlays designed to increase durability and protection.

For traction, the shoe incorporates a Vibram Megagrip outsole with TractionLug technology, aimed at delivering stability across wet, dry, and technical terrain. It also features the brand’s GaiterTrap hook-and-loop system, allowing for strapless gaiter attachment.

The shoe has a 33mm stack height and weighs 274g for the women’s version and 325g for the men’s version.

The Olympus 7 is available online and at select retailers, priced at £165.00.
