US endurance event participation exceeds pre-pandemic levels according to RunSignup

RunSignup - endurance event participation surpass pre-pandemic levels

RunSignup, the US-based event registration and technology provider, has reported that endurance event participation in the USA in 2025 was 8% higher than in 2019.

Based on an analysis of the same events held before and after the pandemic, the data indicates a recovery for the industry.

RunSignup, which now claims more than 50% market share in the US endurance registration space, focused its study on events with more than 500 participants. The findings reflect a steady growth trend across the industry rather than isolated spikes.

Bob Bickel, Founder and CEO of RunSignup, said “There has been a lot of speculation about whether endurance events would return to pre-COVID levels, or even see dramatic growth coming out of the pandemic.

“What our data shows is a clear and measurable recovery. Participation is up compared to 2019, and while growth varies by event, the overall trend is positive and sustainable across the industry.”

The analysis utilized ‘apples-to-apples’ comparisons by tracking events that occurred in multiple years on the RunSignup platform. The dataset expands annually as more races adopt the company’s technology, which it claims allows it to identify trends representative of the USA endurance event market.

Aggregated data shows steady growth across different seasons and month-by-month comparisons.

Based in Moorestown, NJ, RunSignup is an employee-owned firm providing technology solutions for more than 39,000 events. In 2025, the platform supported 11.2 million registrations and helped event organisers process US$650 million, a 16% increase over the 2024 season.

The company plans to release more in-depth analysis in its Annual Industry Trends Report later this year.
