Mike Reilly, known as the ‘Voice of IRONMAN’, is releasing a new book titled ‘Finding Your Finish Line: Lessons on Discovering Hope, Heart, and Yourself in Life’s Toughest Miles’, co-written with Sarah Wassner Flynn.
Drawing from more than four decades announcing endurance sports events, Reilly shares the stories and experiences that shaped his understanding of perseverance, purpose, resilience and hope. The book will be published on September 10, 2026, and will be available in hardcover, paperback, ebook and audiobook formats.
For years, Reilly’s declaration, “You are an IRONMAN!” welcomed athletes across finish lines around the world. Having witnessed hundreds of thousands of people push through adversity, doubt and exhaustion, he notes that the most meaningful finish lines in life are often those that have nothing to do with a race.
Reilly said “I needed to write this book to help us all realise that lessons learned must be lessons practiced daily. The lessons and experiences I witnessed firsthand at finish lines all over the world, involving people from all walks of life, should be shared.”
In Finding Your Finish Line, Reilly connects moments from endurance sports to the challenges people face in everyday life. Through personal stories and practical lessons, the book explores how readers can build resilience, find purpose beyond achievement, strengthen confidence through daily choices, lead with heart and courage, and recognise the finish lines that matter most.
“Finish lines come in all forms,” Reilly continued. “A solid marriage, good relationships with family and friends, a strong work ethic, personal fitness goals and so much more. Finish lines are in front of us every day, and some may take a long time to cross, but you can never stop moving forward.
“No matter what tough experiences life throws at people, there is a way to push through and persevere. Even if you fail to find your finish line, you have to realize there is always another start line in your life. Win or lose, we are not designed to arrive and stay. Every finish is the start of your next chapter.”
The book is designed for both athletes and non-athletes, including anyone rebuilding after a setback, navigating a major life transition, pursuing a personal goal or searching for a renewed sense of direction.
Mark Allen, six-time IRONMAN World Champion, said “From start line to finish line, this book will equip you with the tools and the knowledge to make each and every day you live become something special and full of meaning.”
Reilly has announced more than 1,000 endurance events worldwide, including 33 IRONMAN World Championships, and is an inductee of the IRONMAN Hall of Fame, USA Triathlon Hall of Fame and Running USA Hall of Champions.
