Amazfit expands recovery insights with BioCharge Energy metric

Wearable brand Amazfit has launched a new recovery metric – BioCharge Energy – designed to help athletes track and manage their energy levels throughout the day.

The new metric is exclusive to the Amazfit Helio Strap, and updates in real-time based on multiple factors including sleep, heart rate, HRV, stress, and daily activity.

Unlike the existing Readiness Score, which updates once in the morning and appears on Amazfit’s smartwatches, BioCharge Energy offers continuous feedback. According to Amazfit, this is particularly helpful for athletes who train later in the day and want to make informed decisions about their training load.

While BioCharge Energy and Readiness Scores offer a quick snapshot, the company encourages users to interpret these alongside other recovery metrics for a more complete view. These include aerobic and anaerobic effort, time to full recovery, VO2max, 7- and 42-day training load (ATL/CTL), HRV, sleep quality and resting heart rate.

Amazfit has shared training examples where adjustments are recommended based on data interpretation. For instance, if BioCharge is low but HRV is high, workouts might be scaled to shorter intervals. Conversely, high BioCharge but elevated fatigue indicators may prompt a more conservative training day.

The brand stated that learning to interpret these recovery signals can help prevent overtraining and improve session outcomes over time.

Amazfit is part of health technology company Zepp Health, which is headquartered in the Netherlands and listed on the NYSE. The brand offers smartwatches, rings and bands in over 90 countries worldwide.
