Marathon Tours & Travel builds its footprint Down Under

Marathon Tours & Travel, the sports travel agency and events company, is building its presence in Australia, having recently supported the 2025 TCS Sydney Marathon as an official travel partner and also delivering the Kangaroo Island Marathon under its new management.

The 2025 TCS Sydney Marathon made history as it became the seventh Abbott World Marathon Major. Marathon Tours & Travel looked after nearly 11,000 international athletes, friends and family.

According to the company, these visitors spent an average of 4.5 days in Sydney and New South Wales, accounting for more than 25,000 room nights in the region and contributing millions of Australian dollars to the local economy.

Jeff Adams, President of Marathon Tours & Travel, said “This year’s TCS Sydney Marathon was historic, and we’re incredibly proud to have played a part in helping thousands of international runners and supporters experience it first-hand.

“From accommodation and travel through to harbour cruises and race-day logistics, our goal was to make the TCS Sydney Marathon experience seamless and memorable.”

Meanwhile, the Kangaroo Island Marathon saw a 150% growth in runners for its 2025 edition, with 191 participants across the marathon, half marathon and 10km distances, representing 12 countries. The event took place on August 24, 2025,  in Flinders Chase National Park in South Australia.

According to Marathon Tours & Travel (MTT), it placed an emphasis on community partnerships and sustainability. Initiatives included a finisher’s beer from Kangaroo Island Brewery, event merchandise from Kangaroo Island Wool, and local ANZAC biscuits for finishers. Aid stations featured biodegradable products and locally produced honey tubs instead of single-use gels.

Shannon Stacey, Race Director at Marathon Tours & Travel, said “We’re incredibly proud to have delivered the Kangaroo Island Marathon for the first time under our new management.

“he race not only showcased the breathtaking landscapes of Flinders Chase National Park but also brought genuine benefit to the local community through meaningful partnerships. We sincerely thank all of our local partners that supported our first iteration of the event. This is just the beginning, and we’re excited to build on this foundation in future years.”

Both events form Marathon Tours & Travel’s ‘Aussie Challenge’, which pairs the two races just a week apart. The challenge offers runners the chance to experience two contrasting Australian races within a single trip.
