International governing body World Triathlon has announced three additions to its 2026 World Cup event calendar and confirmed Padola, Italy, as the host for the 2026 World Triathlon Winter Championships.
The 2026 World Triathlon Winter Championships will take place in Padola from February 27 to March 1, 2026. This marks a continued commitment to Italy for the winter discipline, following previous events in Cogne, Pragelato, and Asiago.
The winter competition schedule includes:
- Friday February 27, 2026: Winter Duathlon World Championships (Elite, U23, and Junior).
- Saturday February 28, 2026: Age–Group and Para Winter Duathlon Championships, followed by Elite, U23, and Junior Winter Triathlon Championships.
- Sunday March 1, 2026: Age–Group Standard Distance and Para Winter Triathlon Championships, plus the 2×2 Winter Triathlon Mixed Relay.
Antonio Arimany, President of World Triathlon said “Winter triathlon has a unique ability to showcase the versatility and resilience of our athletes, and Italy has been a magnificent partner in bringing this discipline to life. By returning to Italy for the 2026 World Championships in Padola, we are building on the legacy of Cogne, Pragelato and Asiago.”
The 2026 World Cup season will feature 19 stops, including three new or returning highlights:
- Lanzarote, Spain: Making its debut on March 14, 2026. The Canary Islands location is intended to provide a pre–season racing opportunity for athletes using the island as a training base.
- Haikou, China: Taking place on March 21–22, 2026. Strategically positioned one week before the World Triathlon Championship Series (WTCS) event in Abu Dhabi to support athletes based in Asia.
- Dubai, UAE: The Dubai Women’s Cup returns on December 5–6, 2026. This year, the event will be fully integrated into the World Cup circuit, awarding ranking points.
The World Triathlon Executive Board also approved a long–term extension with the International Powerman Association to develop middle and long distance duathlon world championships through to 2029.
In para triathlon, Chiba, Japan, has been added to the calendar to host a World Triathlon Para Cup on October 11, 2026.
