IRONMAN has announced that Sharm El-Sheikh will host the latest addition to the 2026 IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon series.
Scheduled for October 16, 2026, IRONMAN 70.3 Sharm El-Sheikh marks a return to Egypt for the event brand, following previous IRONMAN branded events held in Sahl Hasheesh between 2021 and 2023.
The new event will be the second IRONMAN 70.3 race in North Africa for the 2026 season, sitting on the calendar just one week before IRONMAN 70.3 Agadir in Morocco.
Located on the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula, the host city of Sharm El-Sheikh is renowned for its Red Sea coastline and coral reefs, offering a late-season destination for athletes and families.
The race hub will be centred at The Jaz Hotel, which will serve as the athlete village and check-in area.
- Swim (1.9km): A single-loop course in the clear waters of Naama Bay. The Red Sea is noted for its minimal currents and high visibility.
- Bike (90km): A single-loop desert route along the Dahab Road. The course is described as a ‘desert highway’ featuring long straight sections, rolling hills, and dramatic mountain backdrops.
- Run (21.1km): A two-loop course through urban areas and coastal roads, finishing by the sea. The terrain is primarily flat to gently rolling.
