British Triathlon has appointed Chris Lane as its new Director of Finance, Governance and Operations. The role combines financial leadership with a focus on governance and business operations to support strategic decision making and organisational performance.
Lane joins the national governing body from the energy-from-waste sector, where he held senior finance and commercial positions. He is Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) qualified with experience in major infrastructure projects and public sector services.
In addition to his professional background, Lane is an active participant in the sport as a GB age group triathlete and is currently working towards his coaching qualifications.

The appointment comes as the organisation prepares for the return of World Triathlon Championship Series racing to London and the build–up toward the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

British Triathlon is the governing body for triathlon and multisport in Great Britain. It works alongside the home nation associations – Triathlon England, Triathlon Scotland, and Triathlon Cymru – to promote participation in swim, bike, run activities.
The organisation is a beneficiary of UK Sport Lottery funding and manages elite athletes programmes that have produced numerous medallists, such as current Olympic champion Alex Yee and Paralympic gold medallist Megan Richter. In 2021, the body established the British Triathlon Sustainability Commission to direct the sport toward a sustainable future.
