RCS Sport confirms 21-team line-up for 2026 Giro d’Italia Women

Giro d’Italia Women

RCS Sport has announced the 21 teams selected to compete in the 2026 Giro d’Italia Women, which will take place from May 30 to June 7, 2026. The 37th edition of the race features a full contingent of 14 UCI WorldTeams, alongside a selection of ProTeams and Continental squads.

This year’s race, organised by RCS Sport, has been expanded to nine stages, totalling 1,153.7km with 12,500m of elevation gain. The route begins in Cesenatico on May 30, 2026, and concludes in Saluzzo. A highlight of the 2026 edition is the queen stage to Sestriere, which will feature the first-ever passage of the women’s peloton over the Colle delle Finestre.

The 14 UCI WorldTeams include AG Insurance – Soudal Team, Canyon//SRAM zondacrypto, and Team SD Worx – Protime. They are joined by Laboral Kutxa – Fundación Euskadi, which qualified automatically via the 2025 rankings.

RCS Sport has also issued six wild card invitations. St Michel – Preference Home – Auber 93 is the sole ProTeam wild card, while the remaining five spots have been awarded to Italian Continental teams, including Aromitalia Vaiano and Vini Fantini – BePink.

Giusy Virelli, Director of the Giro d’Italia Women, said “We have put together a Giro d’Italia Women with many new ingredients, slightly changing the formula. There will be three fast stages, two more suited to riders with strong ‘Classics’ characteristics, two summit finishes, the return of the uphill time trial after five years, and above all the queen stage with the first-ever women’s passage over the Colle delle Finestre.”

Mauro Vegni, Director of the Giro d’Italia, said “This year we have designed a more modern Giro, with shorter stages that are no less demanding for the general classification contenders, alternating with stages that will suit riders looking to make an impact with long-range attacks.”

The 2026 edition includes an uphill individual time trial on stage 4 from Belluno to Nevegal. The highest point of the race, the 2,178m Colle delle Finestre, will serve as the ‘Cima Alfonsina Strada’, named in honour of the pioneer who competed in the men’s Giro d’Italia in 1924.
