CLASH offers pro athletes option of Bitcoin winnings

US-based event brand, CLASH (formerly known as Challenge North America), claims to be continuing a… ‘push for modernization within endurance sports and progressive positioning, by offering its professional athletes the opportunity to be paid winnings, either all or a percentage of their choosing, in Bitcoin.’

“We are thrilled to make this latest announcement,” said CLASH CEO, Bill Christy. “Bitcoin is a matter of convenience, an investment and serves as an additional secure payment option.

“This new option provides our athletes with the ability to receive compensation on their preferred terms. These incredible athletes continue to inspire me, the entire CLASH team and the expansive age group field. We owe it to them to advance the business and elevate their profession with this new opportunity.”

The digital currency, created in 2009 and referred to as the latest monetary network or ‘BTC’, will be available to those with earnings in each CLASH event’s official prize purse. By offering bitcoin through a digital wallet transaction, CLASH adds that it will be able to offer professionals lower transaction fees than typical of traditional banking.

The first event utilizing this new option will be CLASH Daytona, scheduled to take place on December 3-5, 2021.

The prize purse earnings will be distributed at the athlete’s request via a digital wallet with the additional option for athletes to choose the percentage they would like to be transferred in bitcoin versus cash.
