Following its participation in the Giro d’Italia and Giro-E, ANCI – the National Association of Italian Municipalities – is renewing its commitment to young people by taking part in the Giro Next Gen, the Italian stage race dedicated to under-23 cyclists, which takes place from June 15 to 22, 2025.
The Giro Next Gen offers an opportunity for ANCI to promote youth engagement through sport, featuring in-person initiatives and digital content developed with the support of event organiser RCS Sport.
During the Giro Next Gen, the race’s communication channels, along with those of the Giro d’Italia, will launch a social media campaign using Instagram stories and posts to share news and messages about ANCI’s program supporting municipal initiatives for youth.
Also, three stages of the Giro Next Gen 2025 – Rho Fiera Milano on June 16th, Ovada on June 20th, and Pinerolo on June 22nd – will feature dedicated talks on the value of sport and major events as drivers for socio-economic inclusion of young people and for the sustainable growth of local communities.
These events follow the footsteps of the six Stakeholder Forums held during some of the Giro-E stages in May.
ANCI’s participation in the Giro Next Gen is part of a broader program of activities initiated during the Giro d’Italia, funded by the National Youth Policies Fund. The initiative includes a communication campaign, a calendar of Talks and Stakeholder Forums, and saw ANCI already take the spotlight at the recently concluded Giro-E. This featured a team of young administrators under 35 and projects such as ‘Reporter for a Day’, designed to promote youth engagement by involving them in hands-on experiences and helping them explore professional fields such as journalism.
ANCI’s role as an implementing body for the municipal allocation of the National Youth Policies Fund has already led to the funding of over 700 municipal projects across Italy, involving more than 110,000 young people, as well as the training of over 6,000 administrators under 35 through Publica, ANCI’s school for young administrators.
