The Abbott World Marathon Majors has released an in-depth documentary following the journey of marathon champion and former world record holder Paula Radcliffe. The film, ‘Paula Radcliffe: Chasing Stars’, documents the three-time London Marathon winner as she pursues the Six Star medal.
The Six Star medal is awarded to runners who complete the six original races in the Abbott World Marathon Majors series. Having retired from competitive marathon running in 2015, Radcliffe returned to the roads a decade later to complete the Tokyo and Boston marathons in 2025.
The feature is available on the AbbottWMM YouTube channel and reflects on a career that included three victories in New York City, a win in Chicago in 2002, and three London Marathon titles. Her competitive history also encompasses two world records and a world championship gold medal.
Abbott World Marathon Majors is the organisation that oversees the series renowned international marathons. The series currently consists of seven races: Tokyo, Boston, London, Sydney, Berlin, Chicago, and New York City. The organisation also hosts elite points-based competitions and the Age Group World Rankings for athletes aged 40 and over.
The new documentary highlights Radcliffe’s struggle with long-standing foot injuries as she prepared to complete two marathons in a six-week period. It also features her children, Isla and Raphael. A significant portion of the film focuses on Isla’s participation in the 2025 TCS London Marathon, following her own recovery from cancer.
Dawna Stone, CEO at Abbott World Marathon Majors, said “We are honoured that Paula allowed our team to document this journey after such an amazing career. Seeing a legend of the sport want to get back out there and earn the Six Star medal we know means so much to so many runners is a testament to the power of these races.”
Paula Radcliffe said “The Six Star medal was always something I knew was out there. It was going to be a case of my foot standing up to the demands I was placing on it. But I also wanted to enjoy these races the way thousands of others do every year, and it was incredibly special to be able to do that.”
In addition to her athletic achievements, Radcliffe hosts ‘Paula’s Run Club’, a podcast and community platform that provides elite-level insight for runners of all abilities.
The documentary was premiered in London on April 23, 2026, and is now available for public viewing.
