Cambridge Spark and HYROX kickstart ‘Ambition Amplified’ AI-powered athlete insights

HYROX athletes tackle Ski Erg at London Olympia in 2024

Cambridge Spark, a UK-based specialist in AI education and professional development, has announced a strategic partnership with global fitness racing specialist HYROX. The collaboration, titled ‘Ambition Amplified’, will debut at HYROX events in Cardiff, UK, and Barcelona, Spain, this spring.

The partnership focuses on the launch of an AI-powered Athlete Profiler. Built using data from 700,000 official HYROX finish times, the tool provides athletes with an instant breakdown of their performance, percentile rankings, and computed pacing targets for both the 1km runs and the eight workout stations.

Cambridge Spark is a provider of data and AI training and recently featured in the Sunday Times 100 list. The organisation delivers various programmes ranging from frontline data apprenticeships to ‘Leading with AI’ courses for senior executives.

The ‘Ambition Amplified’ activation will feature at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, UK, and Fira Barcelona in Barcelona, Spain. In addition to the data-driven profiling, a stand will host a ‘Human in the Loop’ challenge, testing participants’ cognitive abilities by requiring them to solve complex puzzles while under physical strain.

Tom Phillips, COO at Cambridge Spark, said “At Cambridge Spark, our mission is to turn AI from a headline into a tangible capability for every professional. The Athlete Profiler isn’t just a stand activation; it’s a live proof of concept. We wanted to show, not just say, what AI insight feels like when applied to something real.”

HYROX is a fitness racing series that has established a standard format of 8 x 1km runs interspersed with 8 workout stations, such as the Sled Push and Burpee Broad Jumps. The organisation aims to inspire 100 million lives and is currently seeking Olympic recognition for the sport of fitness racing.

According to Cambridge Spark, the new partnership bridges the gap between physical effort and technological precision. A combined team of Cambridge Spark staff, senior leadership, and clients will compete at the Cardiff event to demonstrate the Ambition Amplified initiative.

The Athlete Profiler also offers a personalised four-week training plan based on an individual’s specific persona and performance goals. This is intended to demonstrate how data fluency and rigorous analysis can be applied outside of traditional environments to optimise physical performance.
