Running Industry Alliance (RIA) has announced the evolution of the Women’s MultiSport Action Group (WMAG), a member-led platform designed to champion women across the running and triathlon business sectors.
First launched at The Running Conference in December 2024, WMAG has transitioned from a support network into a structured working group within the RIA and Triathlon Industry Alliance (TIA) ecosystem. The group serves as a forum for industry collaboration, aiming to amplify women’s voices and create pathways for professional leadership and influence.
RIA is a trade organisation that supports the running industry through business-to-business networking, research, and advocacy. Its counterpart, TIA, provides a similar collective voice for the triathlon sector in the UK & Ireland and beyond.
According to RIA, WMAG’s core purpose is to elevate visibility and representation for women in leadership, operations, creative, commercial, and strategic roles. The group aims to ensure women’s voices are heard regarding industry standards, product development, and best practice.
The aims of the group include improving inclusion at every level of the multi-sport industry and creating clearer pathways for career progression. This includes specific support for mothers and women balancing family commitments with professional growth.
WMAG also intends to identify and remove barriers to participation while strengthening safeguarding measures for women at events and within the industry.
Participation in WMAG is open to individuals from RIA and TIA member organisations who are committed to advancing women’s development in the multi-sport business landscape. Applicants must have an endorsement from their member organisation to join the group.
