MyWhoosh Championships return for 2026 with US$1m prize fund

MyWhoosh Championship 2026 with USD 1 million prize purse

Virtual cycling platform MyWhoosh has announced the return of its flagship event, the MyWhoosh Championships 2026, which will take place this July.

The event is a seven-day virtual stage race ridden from a competitor’s own indoor trainer. It offers riders the chance to compete for a share of a US$1,000,000 prize fund, which is split equally between men and women.

Born in 2019 in Abu Dhabi, UAE, MyWhoosh is a free-to-use virtual cycling app. The company offers virtual worlds, over 730 tailored workout plans, and weekly competitive races for indoor cyclists.

The format for the championships remains a General Classification event, featuring seven stages over the course of a week. The fastest cumulative time across every stage will decide the overall winner. The same equal prize structure and category system from the 2025 edition returns unchanged, featuring different stages but near-identical overall distance and elevation.

Matt Smithson, Director of E-sports and Game Operations at MyWhoosh, said “Almost nobody outside the professional peloton ever gets to ride a seven-day Tour. For one week in July, our users in their own home can take on the kind of week a professional takes on. It is genuinely hard. It is also a huge amount of fun, and it is something we all end up battling through together.”

In 2025, riders from 47 countries took on the seven stages, collectively covering over 200,000 virtual kilometres. For the 2026 season, MyWhoosh aims to double the number of riders on the start line to build the largest amateur Tour in the event’s history.

The US$1,000,000 prize fund is split equally between men and women across six competitive categories, which are raced separately. Prizes are awarded within each category for the overall general classification, the sprint classification, and the climbing classification.

Every finisher will also receive a MyWhoosh Championships gift pack worth over US$700. This is awarded separately from, and in addition to, the main prize fund.

To ensure fair racing, entrants must complete the MyWhoosh Power Passport Test, which is a short, one-time verification. Step-by-step guidance is available online, and riders who have raced in the Sunday Race Club within the qualifying window are typically eligible without repeating the test.

Athletes may also be subject to the company’s anti-doping and integrity testing programme during the championships to ensure competition results reflect genuine performance.

Registration for the event opens this month. Riders can register their interest and complete the Power Passport early to prepare for the opening stage.
