Triathlon event organiser Supertri has launched its 2027 Team Programme, offering US$90,000 in total prize money across the 2027 season to celebrate team participation across clubs, charities, educational institutions, and corporate groups.
The programme aims to incentivise participation, performance, and community engagement by awarding financial prizes across non-traditional categories alongside standard competitive timings. At each 2027 Supertri event, teams will compete across three distinct award categories:
- Largest Team: Awarded to the group with the highest total number of registered athletes.
- Fastest Team: Scored separately for Olympic and Sprint distances where applicable, utilising Supertri’s partnership with TriDot to equalise times across gender and age categories.
- Loudest Team: Awarded to the squad generating the highest social media engagement surrounding the event.
Each category awards US$1,000 for first place, US$750 for second and US$500 for third. Events with both Olympic and Sprint distances have four categories and 12 podium places, worth US$9,000 at a single race. Sprint-only events have three categories and nine podium places.
Michael D’hulst, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer at Supertri, said “Clubs are where most people find triathlon. They get athletes to their first start line, train alongside them all year and are the loudest voices at the finish, and this is our way of giving back to them. You don’t need the fastest athletes to win. Bring the biggest team or the loudest one, and there’s a podium waiting for you.”
To qualify, organisations must complete an onboarding process and register a minimum team size of 10 athletes. In addition to financial rewards, participating groups unlock milestone benefits based on registration volumes, including dedicated event precinct areas, marquee tents, and furniture allocations for teams reaching specific numbers 45 days prior to race day. Team managers also gain access to a digital team hub interface to monitor registrations and unlocked rewards.
